Reminiscent of the “Wacky Packages” cards I bought as a kid in the 70s, these substituted the adorable cherubs of the Cabbage Patch world with disgusting, deformed children. In the face of this, a trading card set called the “Garbage Pail Kids” emerged to parody the Cabbage Patch craze. To this day, when a toy inspires shopping mania around Christmas, news articles remind us of the near-riots that came with the parental pursuit of the Cabbage Patch Kids circa 1983.

They were released from a garbage pail owned by Manzini and much to his chagrin, they refuse to go back.Īs Dodger gets to know the kids, he finds out they know how to sew clothes and uses their talents to impress Tangerine, one of the female bullies. He is later rescued by The Garbage Pail kids, a group of misfit children that love to break the rules and be disgusting. While working there, four bullies stop by and wreck the place, leaving Dodger in the sewer.
